By: Howard R Miller Communication The interactive panel will discuss best practices in hurricane preparedness with members of the community and focus on helping attendees create a realistic, functional plan that is critical for successful preparation, response and recovery. Panelists from The Continental Group will include Bill Worrall, Corporate Vice President; Gary Pyott, President, Garden Style/HOA; and Fernando Dominguez, Senior Vice President, Garden Style/HOA. Topics will include steps for creating a personal hurricane plan; how to protect your community, common areas, and property; how to prepare for an evacuation; what to expect before, during and after a storm; and community training and preparedness for hi-rise condominiums if a hurricane strikes the City of Daytona Beach. The City of Daytona Beach is located on Florida’s “Fun Coast” which extends along the Atlantic, or eastern, coast of the state with a population of 68,128. It is internationally known for its racing roots, hosting some of the largest motorsports events in the world including the Great American Race, the Daytona 500. This is the fourth public service condo hurricane summit TCG has coordinated in the past two months to help Florida residents prepare themselves before a natural disaster strikes. The Atlantic hurricane season began June 1st and ends November 30th; and projections point toward an active 2011. “Many local residents are desensitized as we have not had a major hurricane storm in years.
