STYLISH SAMANTHA CAMERON INVESTS IN ITALIAN LIGHTING CLASSIC FOR 10 DOWNING STREET
The Prime Minister’s wife has brought a taste of Italy to 10 Downing Street with the purchase of one of the most iconic pieces of Italian design.
Known for getting her style just right, Samantha Cameron has invested in a reproduction of an Arco Floor Lamp designed in 1962 by Achille and Pier Castiglioni.
One of the most important industrial designers of the 20th century, Achille Castiglioni produced more than 150 products during his career and forged enduring relationships with Italian manufacturers.
The Castiglioni brothers were renowned for turning everyday objects into intelligent and inspiring design with humour and verve.
The Arco Floor Lamp, one of the most popular floor lamps ever made, was inspired by regular street lights in Italy during the early 1960’s. It can be found in the permanent design collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, and has received numerous awards.
Sam Cam bought a reproduction of the dramatic Arco lamp with its white marble base for £250 (http://www.iconiclights.co.uk/arco-floor-lamp-with-white-...) from Iconic Lights, which provides designer lighting and replica design classics at affordable prices.
She also boosted her environmental credentials by purchasing low energy bulbs for the dramatic lamp.
