Wheatware USA Expands Manufacturing

Wheatware USA, Inc., (WheatwareUSA) with manufacturing facilities in Nebraska, has successfully expanded manufacturing operations of Wheatware™ products over the last 16 months, from former manufacturer of Wheatware™ products, Midwest Manufacturing Company, Inc. During this time,  WheatwareUSA has developed a new “food contact” formula, requiring a reinvention of its trade secret manufacturing technology. Now, it is launching what it calls Wheatware™ Gen-4.

WheatwareUSA’s new generation of products is again all crop-based, plastic-free, compostable, and heat resistant (212°F). It will first appear in a new style of cutlery (forks, spoons, knifes), followed by other food service industry products.  This special line of cutlery will be obtained through major US food serviceware take-out suppliers. A joint company announcement of this product line is anticipated later this summer.

WheatwareUSA’s new and improved Gen-4 has been long awaited. The Company, was founded in 2004, however since 2007, it has endured an ingredient interruption for making compostable cutlery and chopsticks. Katherine Patton, co-founder and president, said “over the years we have worked diligently to invent a new, world class biodegradable formula, one where forks, spoons and knives would be strong, durable, heat-resistant, yet compost in 90 days, and made without plastic. This next generation of bioresins is mostly from the waste product of the US wheat crop., enabling our food serviceware to be the most competively priced green products to date!”

Made in Nebraska USA, Wheatware foresees a steady sales growth. A growth which hopes to help not only US farmers, but create many US manufacturing jobs as well.
