Evan Walters: Moments of Vision Book Launch at Glynn Vivian Art Gallery in Swansea

June 27, 2011 - PRLog -- The Glynn Vivian Art Gallery is to host the launch of a new book Evan Walters: Moments of Vision on Friday 1 July at 7.00pm.

The book is edited by Barry Plummer and responds to the work of Evan Walters, with a generous selection of colour reproductions of his paintings - portraits, landscapes, still lives – and a biographical essay on the artist.

Content includes a host of responses to the paintings by leading artists, writers, poets and academics.

Editor Barry Plumber said “This book has been a long time in the making. It has 54 contributors who have all given their own personal response to an Evan Walters’ painting or drawing.

“The result is a joyful, free flowing exercise in creativity that goes a long way to demolish the stereotype of what many believe about Walters and his art.

“The book reveals an artist of great talent and intelligence who has the ability to touch us all today and it adds to the growing appreciation of Welsh visual culture in a most unique way”.

Jenni Spencer-Davies, Curator of the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery said “The gallery is delighted to host the launch of a prestigious book such as this.

“Visitors can also enjoy the delightful selection of Evan Walters' paintings and portraits from our collection which are currently on display at the gallery.”

All the royalties from the book will be donated to the Noah's Ark Appeal for the Children's Hospital of Wales.
