Follow on Google News | Pyroban gets active at CeMATExplosion protection specialist Pyroban demonstrated how industries at risk of explosive atmospheres can optimise levels of safety and often reduce the cost of their material handling and associated operations, at intralogistics fair, CeMAT.
By: Molokini Marketing Pyroban’s “Get Active” theme at CeMAT 2011, in Hannover, Germany this May, helped the international engineering company to highlight two of the explosion protection safety services it offers. “We have many customers in Germany and across Europe and CeMAT proved to be a great opportunity for us to communicate the message of ‘Getting Active’ with area classification and explosion protection” says Malcolm Davis, of Pyroban. “We were able to highlight the fact that for many sites where flammable materials are processed and stored system6000 “active” Zone 2 ATEX protection offered improved truck operator safety together with considerable savings in lifetime costs for sites currently using Zone 1 rated trucks in Zone 2 classified areas”. Getting active in area classification The primary objective of the ATEX 1999/92/EC directive is to prevent the formation of explosive atmospheres. Pyroban’s hazardous area experts discussed risk assessment and area classification services that could help businesses achieve more appropriate zone designations (under ATEX* 1999/92/EC). Getting active in explosion protection For businesses with Zone 2 hazardous areas, “active” explosion protection systems help warn and protect an operator if there is a release of flammable material. Pyroban protected equipment is automatically brought to a controlled shutdown at 25% of the Lower Explosive Limit (Propane in Air) and cannot be restarted until the area is declared safe by a person in authority. The new generation of active forklift conversions for Zone 2, system6000, was launched on the Pyroban stand, where experts demonstrated how businesses can benefit from specifying the latest forklift trucks with full ATEX 94/9/EC compliance and a choice of gas detection technology. “Previously, Ex trucks could be offered with either pellistor based or infrared gas sensing systems but neither system suited all Zone 2 applications” Pyroban also exhibited some of the latest Zone 1 and Zone 2 explosion proof forklift trucks from leading brands and highlighted the importance of maintenance and auditing of explosion proof equipment.
