June 26, 2011 - PRLog -- June 25, 2011 – San Diego, CA – San Diego Boca FC’s hunt for the post-season received a huge shot in the arm with a dominant second-half performance that led to a 5-3 victory against the Rattlers FC of Lancaster, CA.

Missing starting goalkeeper Steve Gonzalez and backup Mario Salazar left the duties of managing the net to Defender Honorio Luvianos. Boca FC also felt the sting of a burning-hot desert sun and 20+ m.p.h. winds on a Saturday evening in Palmdale, CA. Lancaster automatically fell into the home team role, scoring early and taking multiple opportunities on the net.

After the 1-0 deficit, Boca fired back immediately. Juan “Kichi” Perez-Bernal served a long pass to Forward Cameron Roget, who stutter-stepped a defender and sent a perfect short cross over to Justin Picou, netting his 9th goal of the season and Boca’s first of the match.

An errant handball gave Lancaster the chance to take the lead once more. A penalty kick shot to the corner just out of reach of Luvianos. Ten minutes later, Boca would get a similar opportunity on a Rattlers Yellow Card. The Rattlers stuffed the box expecting a cross to drop in, but Defender Jose “JoJo” Coronado curved a Beckham-style ball around the pack of defenders and keeper to equalize the score.

The Rattlers would notch one more goal, leaving the first half with a 3-2 lead. With their playoff dreams fading away, Boca stepped up their game and came out with a renewed fire. Second half sub Amir Vafaee cracked a shot that bounced off the Rattlers goalkeeper to Abiel Coronado who centered it clear to the back of the net.

A particularly vicious tackle from a Rattlers midfielder resulted in a red card and only fueled Boca’s momentum against a now undermanned side.

The first blow from Coronado stunned the Rattlers and the next two would send them to the mat. Abiel Coronado would find the net again a few minutes later, sending in a 30-yard shot past defenders and the keeper to stretch the top corner of the net. Moments later, the game would be sealed shut when a picture-perfect cross by Juan Perez-Bernal found Cameron Roget, whose header sailed right over the Rattlers keeper to finalize the score at 5-3.

San Diego Boca FC Head Coach Sabiño Tinajero said of the match, “The players today played a solid 90 minutes in a tough road match and got the win. That is what we came here to do and now we must get prepared for our final league match against Santa Ana this coming Sunday, as it is another must-win game for us. I am happy with the attitude of the team today and the fight they produced on the field.”

In the same day, both the Santa Ana Winds and FC Hasental secured a single point each, keeping Boca’s playoff hopes alive, counting on a big win at home on July 3rd against Santa Ana.

San Diego Boca FC’s final home match is Sunday, July 3rd at 3:00 p.m. against the Santa Ana Winds.
