“We really want to give women the tools and the tips they need to be empowered to protect themselves in the event of an attack,” Crus said. “The real way for women to protect themselves is to have the confidence that they know what to do in advance.”
Among the many subjects Crus will cover during this important community outreach course is awareness of the different types of attacks; how to execute the highly effective “stop hit” procedure; effective defense and escape techniques and even learning how to avoid having verbal threats turn physical.
“In just one hour I will be able to help women effectively prevent dangerous situations and what to do in the event that a situation does turn dangerous,” he said. “This is definitely a fun workshop women all over Austin will not want to miss.”
The Women’s Self Defense Workshop class will take place on Saturday, July 2 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Joao Crus Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu located at 6705 Highway 290, Suite 501 near Planeview Drive.
