Follow on Google News | Avon Chiropractor, Dr. David Schiller, Provides Natural Solutions for Back PainDr. David Schiller schillerchiropractic.com/index.php is an Avon chiropractor in Connecticut who provides natural solutions to back pain. About 1/5 of all doctor’s visits are for back pain, which affects about 50% of all adults in the U.S.
By: Schiller Chiropractic “Twenty or thirty years ago, chiropractors were focusing primarily on manipulation of the spine,” observes Dr, Schiller. “And although this was effective, a whole new range of treatments also became available. Like chiropractic practices, these were noninvasive and holistic.” Dr. Schiller adds, “What I do is really about opening up the pathways of communication in the body, which have been shut down or hampered by subluxation. Once that stress and strain on the nerve or joint has been released, the body can start to heal on its own.” Along with various forms of therapies, Dr. Schiller also provides nutritional information and regimes, behavior modification and stress management. Each year about 50% of the adult population in the U.S. suffers from back pain, spending over $50 billion per year on the ailment. Back pain puts a major stress on the workforce and in people younger than 45, back pain is the most frequent reason for limiting physical activity. But the thing is back pain is preventable. Dr. Schiller says, “Most back pain comes from some sort of mechanical miscue, like someone lifting a heavy box improperly or a person sitting for a long time on an inadequate chair or using bad posture. Also, a mattress and/or pillow that are not supportive can cause agony for the sleeper. These are all things that can be fixed through modification. That’s good news.” Dr. Schiller is a Fellow of the International Academy of Medical Acupuncture and utilizes many forms of acupoint stimulation and is currently enrolled in both the Fellowship Program in Functional Neurology as well as the Diplomate Program in Chiropractic Neurology offered by the Carrick Institute of Graduate Studies.
