Orthoindy and St.Vincent Offer Orthopaedic Care In Bedford

June 22, 2011 - PRLog -- As part of its partnership, OrthoIndy and St.Vincent Health are now offering orthopaedic care to the residents of Lawrence County and surrounding communities. OrthoIndy physicians Dr. Benjamin Justice and Dr. Matthew Lavery and St.Vincent physician Dr. James Rickert are accepting patients at St.Vincent Dunn Hospital, located at 2415 Mitchell Road, Bedford, Indiana.

The three physicians are fellowship-trained and offer a number of orthopaedic services, including: general orthopaedics, hip, shoulder, sports medicine and total joint replacement.

Benjamin Justice, MD
Dr. Justice graduated from Indiana University in 1999 and Indiana University School of Medicine in 2003. He completed his orthopaedic residency at St. Mary’s Hospital, San Francisco in 2008, where he received the Garnett F. Wynn Award, awarded to the outstanding resident each year at the San Francisco Orthopaedic Residency Program. Dr. Justice completed his total joint replacement fellowship in 2009 at the University of Louisville/Jewish Hospital.

Dr. Justice has special training in muscle-sparing hip and knee replacement, as well as hip resurfacing arthroplasty, an alternative for young, active patients. He also has special training in direct anterior total hip replacement, which allows quicker recovery without many of the post-operative precautions of traditional hip replacement.

Matthew Lavery, MD
Dr. Lavery graduated magna cum laude from Millikin University where he was a three-year letter winner on the varsity football team. He received his medical degree from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine.

Dr. Lavery completed his orthopaedic surgery residency training at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. While at the University of Iowa, he had the opportunity to work with the men’s baseball, football and gymnastics teams, as well as the women’s basketball team.  
In 2009, he completed a fellowship in sports medicine at the Southern California Orthopedic Institute, where he provided team coverage for several high schools and the Los Angeles Valley College football team. Dr. Lavery is an associate member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.

James B. Rickert, MD
Dr. Rickert graduated with honors from the University of Notre Dame in 1984 with a bachelor’s degree in Literature and Anthropology. He also graduated with honors from Georgetown University Medical School in 1988. Dr. Rickert did an internship at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in 1989. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, New York Orthopaedic Hospital in 1993 where he received the Rosamond Kane Award for Excellence in Orthopedic Surgery.

Dr. Rickert is the founder and president of the Society for Patient Centered Orthopedics. He was previously employed by Bloomington Bone and Joint Clinic, Orthopedics of Southern Indiana and the Bone and Joint Center of Southern Indiana, P.C.
