SAT Prep Gets a Summer Makeover with Revolution Prep’s Ivy Insiders

Entrepreneurial college students bring a fresh testing attitude to Fairfax, VA with the grand opening of Ivy Insiders Fairfax, a SAT test prep service with a unique approach.

June 26, 2011 - PRLog -- The first day of summer for high school students in Northern Virginia used to signal the start of their long-awaited months-long break into lazy days of hanging out at the pool, beach breaks and just chillin’ with friends.  This summer Ivy Insiders Fairfax has invaded the region with another option.   A new-school SAT test prep company started by Harvard students in 2003, Ivy Insiders has expanded nationwide by selecting undergraduates from the nation’s top universities to open and run branches during the summer, including one in Fairfax.  The teachers are all recent SAT test-taking success stories, making them ideal candidates to understand the process and relate first-hand to their student-clients, one of the many unique features of Ivy Insiders.

The Fairfax branch is staffed by Jeremy Weir, who attends the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business; Jennifer Lu, a student at the University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce; and Danayit Musse, an Economics major at Northwestern University.  They are determined to continue Ivy Insider’s phenomenal track record of SAT score increases of 250 to 300 points, which outpaces most traditional test prep companies.  “Old-school test prep programs like Kaplan and Princeton Review are expensive and underperforming,” says Weir.  “We’re different because we have smaller class sizes and offer individual attention, mentorship and personalized instruction.”

The combination of summer vacation, two fall SATs and the October PSAT presents a perfect opportunity for high school students to prepare themselves with the necessary tools offered by Ivy Insiders Fairfax.  “Rising Seniors looking for an extra push on their October or November SAT before they send in their college applications will have results, not excuses if they enroll with us,” say Musse.  “And rising Juniors will reap benefits in the form of scholarships from an over-the-top PSAT score.”

The three collegiate managers are all graduates of W.T. Woodson High School in Fairfax – local students home for the summer, ready to share their insights into how to prepare for the test of a lifetime and ready to give back some of their newfound knowledge to their friends and other students in the local area getting ready to take the SAT.  “The three of us are business students, but this experience isn’t just about making money; it’s also about making a difference in our community and helping others succeed,” says Lu.  “We plan to offer financial aid and discounts.”
