Dictao’s publication of the White Paper “Online Contracting in the Insurance Sector”

A key component for achieving online contract services is the electronic signature, which allows the two parties (the insurance company and its client) to signal their agreement to the terms of the contract, and holds the same legal value as a manual signature.  Also crucial to the transaction is the constitution of proof, which acts as ‘memory’ of the transaction, and contains all of the transaction information (for example, the amount, date, etc.).  The precision of this information, and its integrity, must be guaranteed for the duration of the engagement, and must be legally binding in the event of litigation between the company and the client.  

Dictao’s white paper details the implementation methods for these functions, in a manner which meets the specific demands of insurance contracts, and answers several essential questions :  How can the contracts, which concern insurance for individuals, goods (such as automobile, property, etc.), and also life insurance, be guaranteed for the entire duration of the engagement?  How can the security level of these functions be adapted, according to the sensitivity of the products (a life insurance contract is more sensitive than an auto insurance contract, for instance)?  For life insurance in particular, the reliability of the terms of the engagement must be absolutely certain, and the sustainability of the contract over long periods of time must be guaranteed (sometimes for up to several decades).  Also, how can an insurance company allow a prospective client, who is not yet securely identified with the company, to electronically sign an online contract?  How can a spouse securely consent to an electronic contract?  How can the supporting documentation be managed?
This white paper answers these questions, along with many others, with the goal of exploring the benefits and challenges associated with the total dematerialization of contracts between the insurance company and the client, while maintaining complete trust and security.
