ArtisTech Media Signs Duo Team Smile and Nod

June 21, 2011 - PRLog -- Artistech Media is pleased to announce its partnership with electro-folk-pop band Team Smile and Nod, and is today releasing their sophomore album Mourning Time as a TuneTrack-LP.  Kara Sherman and Rich Ratvasky formed Team Smile and Nod in Columbus, Ohio in 2004, and were discovered by ArtisTech Media by way of the remix site, ccMixter.org.

“Team Smile and Nod exemplifies new artistry, born via remix culture,” remarked Emily Richards, CEO of ArtisTech Media. “Rich and Kara originally connected via a remix, and Kara's expansive work at ccMixter led us to find her provoking productions with Rich. The album Mourning Time connected to those places in me that only grief can touch. The album uplifts through its quirky sincerity.”

“Mourning Time evolved for over half a decade after my mother died,” Kara commented. “Composing and producing the songs with Rich for the album was a rejuvenating process. Working with the folks at ArtisTech gives us a new opportunity to share the healing medium of creative music.”

ArtisTech Media, the company that operates ccMixter.org, is creating partnerships with artists, signing non-exclusive contracts, and releasing site content under Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike Creative Commons licenses, thereby allowing listeners to share the gift of music – without being criminalized. Creative Commons licenses give musicians freedom to collaborate with other artists, and gives fans the opportunity to actually interact with the music.
