Follow on Google News | Motor Age Launches 2011 Tops Shops ContestWill help identify the best independent repair shops in the U.S.
By: Boris Chernin “The last few years have shown us one thing about the independent repair market, there are some really great shops across the country,” said Tschanen Brandyberry, managing editor, Motor Age. “The shops are a mix of one-location facilities and multiple locations. Some have been in the family for generations, while others are owned by the men and women who started them decades ago.” To enter the contest, repair shops are required to answer nine questions describing their business in a simple-to-complete form. Judges will score each shop on 10 categories: experience, training and education, shop operations, supplier relations, marketing, website presence, aftermarket involvement, community activities, technical offerings and a photo tour of the shop. Judges will review all of the entries, and winners will be announced this fall. The overall 2011 Top Shop will appear on the cover of the December 2011 issue of Motor Age, while the nine runners-up also will be featured inside the magazine. Winners also will receive plaques to display and use in their marketing efforts, touting them as a Top Shop. The Motor Age 2011 Top Shops contest is sponsored by ACDelco, Bosch, ConocoPhillips, Kia Motors Genuine Parts, Mitchell 1, and Trico.
