For viewers, it will feel as if they are right there with nails and hammers in hand, as the ‘Designing Spaces’ cameras follow the kitchen makeover process from start to finish. Special guest Olympic Decathlon Gold Medalist, Bryan Clay also joins the Designing Spaces ‘Dream Team’ by not only helping out in the kitchen, but by also helping bring smiles to the faces of the young patients at the hospital. It was through Clay’s relationship with Wheaties® that he was given the opportunity to work with a great group of people and team up to create a new Wheaties® cereal called FUEL—a cereal that’s branded for today’s athletes and today’s active people. “It’s been a great relationship so far with Wheaties® and Wheaties Fuel®, and through that relationship I am able to do different opportunities— Clay adds, “When Wheaties® asked me to help out—how could I turn that down? I can’t pass off on an opportunity like this when I have the chance to brighten a child’s day—or to make them smile when they’re going through some of the challenges that they’re going through. That’s what I feel I’ve been given my gifts and talents for.” “Having Bryan Clay join the Designing Spaces ‘Breakfast of Champions® Kitchen Makeover’ project was amazing,” says Lysa Liemer, ‘Designing Spaces’ Executive VP of Programming and Chief Operating Officer. “Bryan was able to bring smiles to the faces of the children, and the Wheaties® team was able to make those smiles even brighter by giving their kitchen a fresh, new look!” The Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital is a Family-Centered Care facility designed to promote and support a mutually beneficial partnership between families and healthcare professionals in caring for children.
