Wave Sport: A Proud Sponsor of Whitewater for a Quarter of a Century

June 20, 2011 - PRLog -- Easley, S.C.– Wave Sport turns 25 this year and has decided to give rather than receive. In celebration of milestone birthdays and all things whitewater, Wave Sport announces its sponsorships for 2011.

“Wave Sport is celebrating 25 years young by sponsoring key events, organizations and projects this year,” said Cheri McKenzie, Chief Marketing Officer of Confluence Watersports, parent company to Wave Sport. “Anyone who kayaks knows that every day on the water is a gift, and we sincerely hope that support for these amazing organizations and events helps more people to experience the same.”

“We are continually inspired by the enthusiasm and infectious energy in every whitewater boater we meet,” continued McKenzie. “It isn’t just a ‘sport,’ it’s truly a lifestyle. It’s an honor for Wave Sport to be a part of it.”  

Wave Sport Sponsorships for 2011:

•   Teva Mountain Games (June 2-5, 2011). The Wave Sport Project X was the “Official Kayak of the Kayak Freestyle Championship” at the games in Vail, Colo. This freestyle kayaking competition, where several Wave Sport athletes competed, is one of the marquee events. Rounding out its 10th year, the Teva Mountain Games are the nation’s largest celebration of adventure sports, art, and mountain culture.
•   American Whitewater. Wave Sport is a “Class III” Level Sponsor for 2011. Wave Sport is supporting the organization, and also donating five boats to American Whitewater fundraisers. The efforts of American Whitewater benefit everyone who loves rivers. Be sure to stop by Wave Sport booths at Deerfield River Fest (July 30, 2011, in Charlemont, Mass.) and Gauley Fest (September 16-18, 2011, in Summersville, W.Va.).
•   EP Films / Epicocity. The Epicocity team, led by Team Wave Sport athlete Trip Jennings and Dagger athlete Andy Maser, is well known for its work that blends activism and expedition kayaking. Its upcoming projects are centered on an imminent dam removal on the Elwha River and a hopeful dam removal on the White Salmon River, both in Washington.  Collaborating with American Whitewater and American Rivers, EP Films will create a trio of films celebrating free-flowing rivers. Wave Sport is consistently inspired by the adventures of the Epicocity crew and happy to sponsor their continued contribution to whitewater activism.
•   Team Wave Sport. These are the folks that continually blow our minds… in a good way! Their dedication - to the sport, to their skills, and to the rivers that make it all possible – is demonstrated everyday. Wave Sport is grateful for the athletes contributions to our boat designs and to the spirit of the tribe that make kayaking what it is today.
