Bluesfest  Will Be Smoking on the River with New  $3 million  Stage!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Windsor, Ontario
June 16, 2011

Mark your calendar now for the premier event of the summer, July 15-17, 2011, outdoors at the Riverfront Festival Plaza on the shore of the mighty Detroit River opposite Caesars Windsor and the beautiful Motown skyline.

Bluesfest International is the 10th largest blues festival in North America and we’ve put together yet another stellar line-up that won’t disappoint. Gather your friends from near and far and enjoy 3 days of tantalizing blues artists from around the globe. This award-winning festival is the place to be as thousands gather to hear national and international blues players.
The festival kicks off with headliner Tim Robbins & the Rogues Gallery Band. Actor, Academy Award winning, director, producer and musician, Robbins is best-known for his roles as Nuke in Bull Durham,  Andy Dufresne in the critically acclaimed Shawshank Redemption and Dave Boyle in Mystic River, for which he won his Academy Award . Robbin’s self- titled debut album is being released in North America, just in time for Bluesfest. Tim and his band have just completed a 22 date European tour to rave reviews. Rolling Stone says, “Tim holds the dignity of the best of American songwriting in the line of Bruce Springsteen.   Headlining Saturday night is England’s icon blues rockers Ten Years After. Saturday’s other headliner is Canadian multi- platinum selling, singer songwriter from Barenaked Ladies Steven Page and closing out this year’s festival, fresh off a sold out national tour with Bob Seger , is Alto Reed and the Motor City Allstars. Alto’s bringing a hemi powered ten- piece band of special guests. Another notable is Texas Scratchfeaturing members of George Thorogood’s  Delaware Destroyers, Savoy Brown and John Mayall’s guitarist for 15 years Buddy Whittington. Other great acts complete the 3 day event.

Invite your friends and family to stay for the weekend; our sponsoring hotels, Holiday Inn Downtown, Holiday Inn & Suites Ambassador Bridge and Hampton Inn & Suites are all offering special online weekend packages.

Bluesfest International, July 15-17 also features Family Day Sunday, Long and McQuade’s Music Clinic, Essex County Riders Show and Shine and Tug Across the River (Team USA vs Team Canada).

Don’t miss the annual Blues N & Cruisin’ June 26, the official KICKOFF to Bluesfest, featuring a multitude of blues bands in the big tent at Place Concorde and the inaugural Bob Probert Memorial Ride for Hotel-Dieu Grace Angioplasty Program.

That buzz is the blues! Keeping the blues alive for 17 years.
