Ashworth College sponsors 2011 Sayers Library Summer Reading Program for Ft. Benning Youth

June 15, 2011 - PRLog -- NORCROSS, Georgia  –  Ashworth College (http://www.ftbenning.ashworthmilitary.com) announced that it will sponsor the 2011 Sayers Library Summer Reading program at Ft. Benning, June 21-July 22, 2011. The annual program is coordinated by the Ft. Benning Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (FMWR) organization.

Open to the children of Ft. Benning service members, this year the Sayers staff has set a goal of having 3,000 books read over the course of the program. To help kick off the program members of the Ashworth Military Education team will be on hand to provide refreshments.

"Ashworth is committed to becoming contributing members of the Ft. Benning Community and what better place to start than the Sayers Library,” said Rodney Butler, U.S. Army First Sergeant, Retired and Ashworth College Military Education Coordinator on behalf of the accredited online school.  “Events like the Summer Reading Program allow us to interact with our students and meet other members of the base community. At the same time we can give back to the families who dedicate their lives to the military.”

Ashworth College is a Servicemember Opportunity Colleges Consortium (SOC) member school, accepts ACE credits and is approved for a range of other military benefits including Post 9/11 GI Bill, Montgomery GI Bill, GoArmyEd, and MyCAA.

Ashworth was recently recognized by the Veterans Administration as a Yellow Ribbon School. Additionally, Ashworth has been designated as a military friendly school by both G.I. Jobs and Military Advanced Education magazines. The online school also supports a campus chapter of the Student Veteran’s Association and was a sponsor of Military Spouse magazine’s 2011 Military Spouse of the Year Award.
