Hope for the Homeless

June 13, 2011 - PRLog -- Divine Favour Ministries  (www.divinefavourministries.org) in collaboration with Rose of Sharon International will host a donation based car wash fundraiser Saturday June 25th from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.  The Burger King at Dunwoody Village, 4537 Chamblee Dunwoody Road, Dunwoody, GA 30338 will act as host for the charitable fundraiser.  Proceeds will benefit the non-profits homeless initiative in purchasing homes for the homeless. Divine Favour Ministries  is organized under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service Code, Divine Favour Ministries is exempt from taxation and all donations to Divine Favour Ministries  are fully tax-deductible. Divine Favour has sponsored over 30 small business owners in 3rd world countries in an effort to encourage self sufficiency and end homelessness. Divine Favour has also supported various women’s shelters across Metro-Atlanta for over 8 years in an effort to combat the rising rate of homelessness impacting Fulton and Dekalb Counties of Metro-Atlanta, GA.

According to a study conducted by Covenant House over 40% of the homeless population are under the age of 18.  57% of homeless kids spend at least one day every month without food. The study also indicates of youth in shelters, nearly 50% reported intense conflict or physical harm by a family member as a major contributing factor to their homelessness. The National Alliance to End Homelessness estimates that, because of the recession, as many as a million additional Americans may become homeless in the next two years. The new face of the homeless includes military veterans, middle class consumers and executives of corporations. In short, our neighbors need our help.
