June 13, 2011 - PRLog -- Portsmouth, UK – Vitec Global, the makers of Max Germ Guard™ Fibre Shield,™ claim that their product’s built-in antimicrobial action helps in the battle for hygiene in a way that other similar products can sometimes fail to do. This is especially useful in environments that demand hygiene, they say, such as in hospital wards for example.

“Max Germ Guard™ Fibre Shield™ doesn’t contaminate its environment with unwanted chemicals after use,” said Chris Lomas, managing director of Vitec Global. “It kills the bacteria, fungi, algae, yeasts and even some viruses directly, preventing them from causing the typical allergic reaction they are associated with. This is what makes our product so suitable for hospitals, schools, sanatoriums, children’s’ play areas and wherever hygiene and cleanliness is valued.”

Microbes can cause discolouration in fabrics, such as carpet. They can cause stain marks and unpleasant odours through their actions. They can also be the cause of irritation and allergic reactions in many people, making their lives miserable.

“While the nasty things microbes can do is bad enough in the home, it is unacceptable in places where people expect the highest standards of hygiene,” said Chris Lomas. “Our product can permanently change surfaces where microbes love to breed into surfaces that actually kill them off. There’s no visual difference as far as anyone can see, but at the microscopic level, there’s a world of difference; our antimicrobial products aid hygiene in a high-tech 21st century kind of way.”

Even though people cannot always see the difference between a safe hygienic surface and an unsafe one, they need to know they are being protected in the public places they are obliged to place their trust in. Hospitals, schools and the like have a duty, and obligation to protect those who use these premises, and the makers of Max Germ Guard™ Fibre Shield™ confidently claim their antimicrobial product can achieve that and more.

When a surface is treated with Max Germ Guard™ Fibre Shield™ it is left with a surface barrier of tiny microscopic needles pointing outwards, rather like a bed of nails. Any microbial life coming into contact with these tiny “swords” has its cell membrane ruptured, which causes the death of the entity. This is antimicrobial action at its best as it doesn’t attempt to modify or change the microbes. It simply kills them.

“We are definitely winning the fight against hygiene,” said Chris Lomas. “Max Germ Guard™ Fibre Shield™ is fast becoming the antimicrobial product of choice with leading hospitals, schools and hotels – places where people go and where people need to be protected. We are proud to be a part of that.”
