Follow on Google News | Florida Toastmasters Provide Edge in Job MarketJob seekers in Florida are finding a hidden resource by joining Toastmasters International. Non-profit organization helps improve communication and leadership skills that employers are seeking. Network with more than 13000 clubs worldwide
By: Nancy Hoehn, Public Relations Officer Most clubs meet either weekly or bi-weekly for an hour or hour and a half in a relaxed, supportive environment. "What most members don't realize is how connected we are to major employers", District 84 Governor Scott Hoehn says. "Toastmasters groups are in the majority of the Fortune 500 companies across the country. Once a person becomes a member of the community/open clubs, they can visit the closed/corporate clubs", he adds. "The smart thing to do is to bring a resume with you when you visit these clubs. You never know." The District Governor himself is a member of several clubs. In East Orlando, the "You Talkin to Me?" club, in Waterford Lakes and UCF College areas, the .Castaways club and in Downtown Orlando, the Conquerors Club. "There is no limit as to the number of clubs you can join once you see how addicting public speaking can be!" says Governor Hoehn. Established in 1924 by Dr Ralph Smedley in a Californian YMCA basement, the organization has grown to more than a quarter million members. Dues are incredibly modest, costing $27 semi-annually. The benefits however are priceless. Visit the toastmasters website and enter your zip code to find a club near you. # # # About District 84 Toastmasters: End
