The first videoguide of a tourist destination in Europe, available in English from the Apple Store

For several years, tourist destinations have relied on promotional websites to highlight the most important facts in various languages.  With technological advances, travellers are demanding downloadable guides for their Smartphones to include the main tourist attractions and points of interest of the destination they visit.

The demand has led to a growing trend for major tourist destinations and European Capitals to rely on virtual tourist guides, although these were a limited version of their official tourism websites. Smartour is a pioneer in Spain and throughout Europe, being the first high quality, geo-referenced, cultural and tourist video based guide, where a person explains the history and anecdote of each point of interest.

The videoguide application, which is available from the Apple Store in three languages (Spanish, English and German), offers a service of global reach already used by tourists from 17 nations, aged between 23 and 72. The service, until now only marketed locally in the Canaries, will be broadly available. It has high-value features such as cultural and major events scheduled for each day of the year, a range of accommodation, dining, shopping and museums. Additionally, the Smartour videoguide incorporates augmented reality technology as a system of viewing the sites.

The company continues with its international marketing plan through the downloading of applications from the Apple Store and, in the near future, the Android market for Smartphones based on Google’s operating system, due to high demand of the market.
