PRLog - Jun. 11, 2011 - MONROE, Mich. -- Safety expert Phil La Duke’s “Deming’s 14 Points for Safety Applying Total Quality Management to Reduce Workplace Risk” to be reprinted in the spring 2011 American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) technical division newsletter to be published later this month, “The Compass,” vol. 10, no. 3. The article was originally printed in the October 2010 edition of Facility Safety Management magazine. Amy Bower, editor of “The Compass,” says she chose La Duke’s article because it “offered a concise list of practical actions that any safety leader or manager could implement.”

Bower noted that when choosing articles to run in “The Compass,” she looks for pieces that spread “ideas and insights into management and leadership topics with peers.” Bower, who has worked in her field for over 25 years, continued that the goal of “The Compass” is to allow authors to “share knowledge to expand the safety, health and environment (SH&E) profession’s body of knowledge, offer new ways of thinking about SH&E practices, receive professional recognition and enhance career advancement, and continue to advance the standard of excellence of practice specialty/ branch and to enhance ASSE’s standing as the leading professional safety resource.”
Facility Safety Management magazine Editor In Chief, Chris Sanford was equally enthusiastic about the piece. "The article was well received by the very discerning readers of Facility Safety Management, and I'm not surprised. It's a good illustration of Phil's insight, knowledge and expertise regarding safety behaviors and risk management in the workplace, which can be seen in all the work he has done for Facility Safety Management magazine.
“I’m always flattered when editors of other publications ask for permission to reprint my work,” relates La Duke. “But when the ASSE manufacturing practice specialty newsletter expressed interest, (coincidentally)
ASSE will hold its national conference and expo June 12th –15th in Chicago, IL. La Duke spoke at last year’s conference in Baltimore. Both Facility Safety Management and Fabricating & Metalworking magazines have booths at the conference and La Duke is helping to cover the conference at the expo and will, along with other Facility Safety Management magazine personnel, be in booth 870 where readers and new subscribers can receive a customer appreciation gift bag.
