June 9, 2011 - PRLog -- Some African Americans angered by search for missing Westchester girl Lauren Spierer. This is not to say that they are not wishing for her safe return, but the investigation underscores the unequal treatment giving to black victims. "We don't even have to name and point out all the missing black women, whose disappearance did not provoke this type of nation wide coverage," said author Alan Cramer. "Privately many in the black community are talking about this."

Many in the African American community say it's no secret that the race of the victim, determines the thoroughness of the investigation. When black girls disappear the cops usually say she's a runaway, but whites are initially considered to have been taken against their will. "I pointed this out in my novel, "The Life" by Alan Cramer, years ago," said Cramer.
The story line was similar to the recent case of The Grim Sleeper in Los Angeles, where a serial killer went unrecognized, because the victims were black. When things happen to blacks, the police and media chalk it up to regular violence in the community. This gives serial killers in the black community some invisibility. Whereas if the police would have actually investigated some of the murders committed by Lonnie David Franklin Jr's as vigorously as they investigate white women's murders  he may have been caught sooner.

"Again this is not to say that we don't hope that Lauren is found safe and sound. We are just pointing out the disparities."
