Poll Finds Majority of Employee Surveys Are Conducted Online

This release provides the findings from an online poll of organizations’ Employee Survey participation rates, their method of survey administration and common obstacles prohibiting higher participation rates.

June 9, 2011 - PRLog -- Chicago, IL – June 9, 2011 – An HR Solutions, Inc. online poll of 210 organizations across various industries found the majority of companies (64 percent) are conducting their Employee Surveys online.  The poll, which was conducted in March/April 2011, sought to determine organizations’ Employee Survey participation rates, their method of survey administration (i.e., internet, paper and pencil, telephone, multi-mode [combination of methods], and other) and common obstacles prohibiting higher participation rates.  

The average overall participation rate of participants’ most recent Employee Survey was 71.9 percent.  Internet was the most common survey administration method used by poll participants.  The popularity of online Employee Surveys can be attributed to their ease of use, speed and cost-effectiveness.  

Organizations also reported facing several obstacles when trying to get their employees to complete an Employee Survey.  When asked what obstacle most prohibited high participation rates at their organization, the top three responses were “employees did not feel the survey was confidential” (28.1 percent), “lack of confidence that the survey results will lead to change” (27 percent) and “lack of interest” (11.4 percent).  

“Organizations need to ensure all employees know their participation is 100 percent confidential and their feedback will directly contribute to positive change,” said Kevin Sheridan, Chief Engagement Officer at HR Solutions.  “Otherwise, an organization’s Employee Survey will fail to: achieve high participation rates, accurately gauge Employee Engagement levels, and correctly identify areas in need of improvement.”
