Follow on Google News | RBS teams compete in madcap money raising challengeTwo teams of staff from a Bristol branch of RBS have taken part in a money raising challenge for local charity St. Peter’s Hospice.
By: Kayleigh Sydenham The challenge was won by the Whiteladies Road team who brought in £100 more than the Blackboy Hill group, for the hospice based in Brentry. The volunteers at Whiteladies Road held further fundraising events on the day by offering customers and passers-by a shoe shine service and setting up an exercise bike on the street to cycle for money. The losing team dressed up as gnomes, conducted a raffle and donated items to be sold to raise money for the hospice. Janet Loud, head of St. Peter’s Hospice shops said: “The challenge was fantastic. Both teams threw themselves into it and it really brought out their competitive sides! “In the end the Whiteladies Road team won by just £100 and it was a great end to a fun day. We would like to thank both teams for taking part and raising vital funds for the charity. “We encourage all businesses in the area to take part in fundraising events like this as it’s great for morale and team building and generates funds we really rely on.” St. Peters Hospice is Bristol’s only adult hospice caring for local people with incurable diseases and giving them a better quality of life. All care is provided free of charge but with the NHS contributing just 25% of the £6 million needed to run the hospice yearly, support from the public is essential. Last year the hospice cared for 2,000 patients in the region and supported over 6,000 family members, including children. The charity has almost 50 shops in the city with a new one on Gloucester Road being billed as Bristol’s first charity ‘department store.’ To find out more about how you could help raise money for St. Peter’s Hospice visit www.stpetershospice.org.uk End
