Hyatt Hotels Technology Director Joins Chicago-based Ecommerce Start-up BayRu

June 8, 2011 - PRLog -- Hyatt Hotels veteran Gene German announced that he is leaving the company to join Chicago-based ecommerce start-up BayRu LLC. German will assume the newly created role of COO at BayRu and will oversee technology, global supply chain and finance. Gene German and his younger brother Anton German co-founded BayRu more than four years ago and have seen the business grow to more than 40 people in three offices in the United States and Russia.

BayRu is known as the market leader in facilitating cross-border ecommerce between Russian shoppers and American merchants.  BayRu's Russian customers are able to browse, transact and take delivery of millions of international product listings from partners like eBay.com and Amazon.com.  

The older brother Gene German says that the timing is right to leave corporate America, "BayRu has reached the turning point.  We now move hundreds of thousands of items for customers and are growing at a rate of 30% per month. Our little business has become one of the most exciting technology companies in Chicago.  Our CEO Aaron Block asked me to join the business full-time and I couldn't say no!"

This is the third time in the last six months that BayRu has snagged talent from a local multi-national.  In March, Director of Analytics Laura Hamilton joined BayRu from Chicago-based Enova Financial, and in December, former Head of Cushman & Wakefield's Chicago operations Aaron Block joined the company as CEO.
