GM Dealer Upgrade: Joe Basil Chevrolet 1st in Market to Start $2 Million Renovation

June 8, 2011 - PRLog -- Depew, NY- General Motor's new products including the redesigned Camaro, the new Cruze compact and Chevrolet's first electric vehicle, the Volt, are driving Chevrolet dealers all over the country to revamp their showrooms.  Joe Basil Chevrolet is the 1st Buffalo Chevrolet dealer in the market to go under construction and renovation of their entire facility.

Work started Monday June 6th and the dealership will remain open during the construction.  The project will be completed November 1, 2011.  The $2 million renovation at Joe Basil Chevrolet will expand all departments.  Dealer president, Jim Basil, said " We believe in the people of Western New York...we  are  reinvesting into our business to service our customers and meet their needs in the future.  With our growth in past years and achieving a sales record year in 2010, we finished as the third largest Chevrolet sales volume dealer in the country. In 1984, my father,  Joe Basil moved the operation from North Tonawanda to Depew. We have grown from 9 employees in 1984 to over 200 with the expansion.”   Jim Basil plans to use these renovations to support the continued growth of the dealership into the future.

This project will finish a three year plan that adds close to 4 acres of property.  The  used car operation has been expanded to display over 250 used vehicles, a state of the art paint booth has been added to the body shop, as well as electric charging stations  for the Volt. This renovation will also include:  expanding the showroom and the number of entrances, expanding the parts department, adding a third service lane, and upgrading the customer waiting area with new bathrooms and internet work stations which will double the current space. The new facility will bring the current operation to include close to 50,000 square feet of building and lot space that will enable Joe Basil to display over 1000 vehicles at its primary location.
