Hairdressing Students Put Through Their Paces At The Nicky Oliver Academy

June 8, 2011 - PRLog -- THREE lucky hairdressing students from Rochdale’s Hopwood Hall College spent a full day at the Nicky Oliver Academy in Manchester’s Northern Quarter receiving one-to-one training from celebrity hairdresser Nicky Oliver.

Hayley Poles, Sadie Fraser and Kelley Lawrie won the once-in-a-lifetime experience after winning first, second and third places in a college competition to showcase their creative skills at which Nicky and his wife, make-up artists Sylvia Oliver were judges.

From the minute they entered Nicky’s Oldham Street, Manchester salon and were led down to the Academy, the three students were put through their hairdressing paces.

“We gave them tuition in Men’s Scissor Over-comb, plateau cuttings and colouring techniques,” explained Nicky. “There were some challenging tasks but all three students performed well.

“They took on board our advice and displayed some real creative flair in the relatively short time they were here,” added Nicky.


Manchester-based celebrity hairdresser Nicky opened his salon 21 years ago and during the intervening years has built up a national customer base. He is a globally renowned hairstylist and has many celebrity contacts.
