Boca saw an early chance waved off on a suspect offsides call, and responded with one of their cleanest setups of the season. Brazilian midfielder Ze Roberto served a perfect one-two pass to Juan “Kichis” Perez-Bernal and sent Boca up 1-0 in the first half. Boca was unfortunately caught celebrating a bit too soon and the Gold responded less than a minute later to even the score 1-1 to end the half tied.
The second half was a solid back and forth from both sides, until the Gold broke the tie with a sharp goal inside the box. Boca found their second wind and began to pellet the Gold’s side with shot after shot. A strong defensive stand by Sacramento held Boca until injury time where a cross by Francisco “Panchito”
San Diego Boca FC Head Coach Papo Santos quoted, “I’m proud of our guys to travel a great distance and come away with a point. Ze had a strong game in the center of the field, and Steve Gonzalez was dominant in goal once again. Our two debut players gave the Gold a lot of trouble in the time they were in, Noel Musicha with his pressure up front, and Panchito’s contribution were both positive additions to our game plan.”
