Lead is a toxic metal that was used for many years in products found in and around homes. Lead can also be emitted into the air from industrial sources and leaded aviation gasoline, and lead can enter drinking water from plumbing materials. Lead may cause a range of health effects, from behavioral problems and learning disabilities, to seizures and death. Children six years old and under are most at risk.
“Lead is such a major health concern in so many properties across the country that we felt a public outreach video educating families about the toxic metal was clearly necessary,” reported Paul Cochrane, President of Cochrane and Associates, the company behind the IAQ Video Network. “We also felt that in addition to discussing sources and routes of exposure to lead, that this video would be an ideal time to remind people about the EPA’s Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule (RRP),” he continued.
