Potentially Life-Threatening Medical Condition Affects 12 Million Americans

Las Vegas, Nevada – This year’s FAAN Walk for Food Allergy: Moving Toward a Cure in Las Vegas will take place at the District Green Valley Ranch, 2240 Village Walk Drive, Henderson, NV 89052 on Saturday, October 1, 2011, at 9:00am.  Principal Paula Naegle from Del Webb Middle School will serve as the Local Honorary Chair.  Mayor Andy Hafen will speak, and Kevin Janison from KVBC-TV will serve as emcee.  

The event, to be held in 44 cities across the country as well as online to support  FAAN (the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network), increase awareness about food allergies, and raise money for research, education, and advocacy.

An estimated 12 million Americans, including 3 million children, have a food allergy - that’s 1 in 25. Food allergies are a potentially life-threatening medical condition, and the CDC reported that food allergies result in over 300,000 ambulatory-care visits a year among children.

Registration for FAAN’s Walk for Food Allergy is now open at www.foodallergywalk.org.  Individuals, families, community groups, and anyone else wishing to raise funds for FAAN are encouraged to register and attend this family-friendly event. Registration is free.

The 2 mile Walk will start at 10:00am.  Following the Walk, participants can enjoy games, music, activities, face painting, and more.  Please join us for the FAAN Walk for Food Allergy in Las Vegas, Nevada, and help us move toward a cure.
