June 5, 2011 - PRLog -- Queensland author Daryl R Farry has released yet another novel, this time the riveting 'Angels be Damned'.

This is a story that centres on the life of Bernadette Mary O’Shea, a devout Irish Catholic who was born in Australia in 1915. Later, in 1938, when she finished secretarial college she left Australia to join her brother in France. She was employed as a secretary; however, she thought her calling should be elsewhere, so she joined a Carmelite abbey in Lyon. During the war Bernadette and many like her, helped Jews escape the Nazi clutches. The nun’s bravery and sacrifices are told as Bernadette, now the 82-year-old mother superior of the abbey, looks back on life during that darkest time.

Daryl R Farry was an infantry medic during the Vietnam War and on return to Australia recommenced his job as an ambulance officer with the Queensland Ambulance Transport Brigade. He worked at stations in Mt Isa, Clermont, Peak Downs, Moranbah and Goonyella and held positions as Control Officer and Senior Station Officer in Rockhampton. Later he was appointed as Communication Centre Supervisor/Station Officer 2 to Bundaberg Communications Centre, under the then, newly-named Queensland Ambulance Service.

During his time working in Bundaberg, Queensland, Daryl and his wife were also growers and had established a mango farm near the town of Gin Gin.

Daryl is now retired and lives with his wife in Redland Bay, Queensland. 'Angels be Damned', is his third published book. His previous books include a work of non-fiction based on war stories titled 'Starlight Minor' (Zeus Publications, 2009) and a second book of fiction titled 'The Swan Principle' (Zeus Publications, 2010).
