June 6th 2011, Bangkok

Bangkok to host the largest Australian secondary school exhibition
Over 22 secondary schools from six cities to offer students a world-class education

CETA Worldwide Education, Thailand’s only Australian secondary school specialists, and Australian Education Assessment Services (AEAS) are organising the fifth Australian Secondary School Exhibition and Cocktail Party on Saturday July 2nd 2011 from 11am-4pm at The Dusit Thani Hall, Dusit Thani Hotel on Silom Road. Admission is free.

Twenty-four top private secondary schools and a specialist high school language school from across five Australian states including the cities of Melbourne, Geelong, Sydney, Perth, Brisbane and Adelaide, will attend this secondary school exhibition, the only one of its kind in Thailand.

The schools represented are from Australia’s best private schools and these include co-educational day and boarding schools, girls-only schools, boys-only schools, IB and foundation study schools.

This exhibition will provide parents an opportunity to understand how an Australian secondary school can benefit their child’s future and prepare them as global citizens.

Australia is a popular choice of destination for secondary school education among international students. Not only does Australia provide quality and internationally recognized education equal to the best in the world, it also provides a safe, comfortable and friendly environment. Australia offers students the chance to experience living in a sophisticated multicultural western environment that is located very close to Thailand and has strong associations with Asian and other countries.

Australian schools offer small classes with advanced teaching styles and dedicated personal attention and care to students. They take into account the needs, talents and interests of individual students and offer excellent support services.

Australian secondary schools are a growing choice for many Thai students and there are currently approximately 27,000 Thai student enrolments across all educational sectors in Australia and the number of Thai students enrolled in secondary schools in Australia is approximately 600.

The exhibition is conducted in a casual cocktail format, allowing parents and students to visit the booths and to spend quality time to talk to Australian representatives from each school, to obtain the most relevant information. They will be shown school materials, including DVDs from various schools, yearbooks and curriculum handbooks. Some of the Thai students who are currently studying at these schools, along with their parents, will also be at the exhibition to answer any queries that visitors may have regarding studying in Australia.

Parents and students will have the opportunity to meet with CETA Managing Directors, Andrew and Tracey Gray, along with CETA Thai Education counsellors and language translators, who will provide facilitation and answer queries. AEAS Managing Director Tracey O’Halloran from Melbourne will also be able to advise parents of AEAS assessment requirements for entry into the top private schools represented at the exhibition.
A special seminar conducted by AUSTRADE through the Australian Embassy, titled, “What parents can expect for your child to study in Australia” will be held at 2pm. This seminar will provide an excellent overview of the quality framework and curriculum levels for study in Australia. Parents and students will also be given advice and counsel on the advantages of secondary school education in Australia, university pathways after graduation from Australian high school and overall requirements, to successfully live and study in Australia at secondary high school level.

This educational event will provide parents and students an opportunity to:

•   gain an extra perspective of Australian secondary schools whilst meeting face to face with senior school representatives from Australia
•   see and learn how committed, professional and well-established a particular school is and whether it meets the students’ needs
•   learn how the school will equip the students to adapt and integrate into a new environment – both academically and culturally
•   learn about the advanced teaching styles and methodologies in Australia
•   discuss your child’s needs for study in Australia - curriculum, international student support, living requirements, estimate cost, etc.
•   obtain a free copy of the excellent comprehensive 140-page Australian Secondary School Guide 2011 produced by CETA Worldwide Education and supported by the Australian Embassy

The Australian Secondary School Exhibition and Cocktail Party will be held on Saturday July 2nd 2011 from 11am-4pm at The Dusit Thani Hall, Dusit Thani Hotel on Silom Road.
