MELT #8: Omega Clash (Lorn x adoptahighway), Dolor
- Jun. 5, 2011 -
The Midwest is facing a different kind of heat wave this summer. 91.7 WMSE and Radiograffiti.org recently confirmed Omega Clash (Lorn x adoptahighway)
, and Dolor for the No. 8 installment of MELT, a monthly live music series in Milwaukee dedicated to musicians on the electronic fringe.
The gig kicks off the trio’s midwest summer tour, which is still accepting bookings, and scheduled to invade STL Atomic Cowboy in Missouri on Saturday, June 25th. Afterwards, the tour will route through the Midwest and head out east throughout the month of July.

], for anyone new to the outfit, is the collaborative guise of adoptahighway and Lorn (Brainfeeder x Ninja Tune), two longtime respected musicians and friends with noted inspiration from “early electro, ambitious metal arrangements, feel-good pop, great composers, comedy, misery, our lives and the juxtaposition of the aforementioned…
mostly.” 2009 saw the digital release of their unyielding EP1 via Bandcamp, which is trending amongst bloggers even today. In between wrapping up some of their individual projects, the duo is currently finalizing tracks for a 7” vinyl to be distributed by late summer through Wednesday Sound.
Not standing in anyone's shadow, Dolor [http://soundcloud.com/dolor
], a burgeoning Midwest producer by way of the Delta, is setting minds ablaze with an unclassifiable style sweeping the internet at this very moment. For his own brand of soundscape, he draws from the core facets of human experience: sex, death, power, kinship, myth, and does so with electronic aplomb. To put numbers to it, Dolor’s beautifully menacing remix of The Weeknd’s ‘The Morning’ garnered over 5,700 plays on Soundcloud in less than a month, and better still, received a nod back in April from the mysterious R&B sensation himself on the artist’s official blog, octobersveryown.net.
Thursday, June 23rd, the doors of Club Garibaldis in Bay View open at 9pm with a $6 cover. Other artists billed for this month’s MELT [http://414melt.com
] include the endlessly talented Seakn (of Antler Antennas), and MELT organizer/resident sound-bender, The Demix.
