Canada Calling: Low bank interest & Investor Program make Canada lucrative destination for investm

This has been stated by Hart A Kaminker while addressing an august gathering here on Friday.
He was speaking in a seminar on Investment Opportunities in Canada organised by the Vadodare Chapter of the Confederation of Indian Industries.
Mr. Kaminker who himself is a Barrister and Solicitor in Canada said that Canada’s economic growth is forecasted to outpace that of the U.K., France and Germany in the next two years. But the bank interest rate is the main point of consideration for any investment. "Current bank interest rate in Canada is only one per cent while bank prime rate is only three per cent", he added.
He said Canada is a lucrative location as because of low tax rates and lowest payroll taxes among the G8 countries. Canada is also strategically located at the crossroads between North America and Asia.
According to the World Economic Forum, Canada has the soundest banking system in the world. "Canada has the lowest overall business costs amongst the G7 countries and the Export Development Corporation of Canada can provide support for inbound investment of both Greenfield and Brownfield investments," he said adding "R&D tax incentives are also available for wages & salaries, capital equipment, materials and overheads."
Earlier, welcoming the participants in the seminar, CII Chaiman Mr. Nitin Mankad said that there is a strong business relationship between India and Canada. There are several Canadian companies operating in India and now Indian companies can set up their own operations in Canada. Referring to Vibrant Gujarat 2011 in which Canada was one of the two partner countries, he said that Canada is one of those countries which are multi cultural and tolerant. Atleast four Canadian cities ranked in the top 25 cities for quality of life in a survey conducted by Mercer Human Resources, he said. [END]
