June 3, 2011 - PRLog -- Competitive intelligence has come a long way from its beginnings. And it has changed – a lot. So, what’s next? John McGonagle, SCIP Fellow, explores how the following events and trends (and others as well) will change competitive intelligence – possibly into something brand new, and what that means for you:

•    Increasing government involvement in information gathering and access due to the war on terror, in the US and around the world.
•    Challenges to the way we think about intelligence, driven by the resurgent studies on governmental intelligence and the growth of academic programs on intelligence.
•    The rise (and fall?) of outsourcing secondary research and similar activities.
•    The decline of print media and rise in cyber media.
•    The growth of social/business networking sites.
•    The shift of CI from craft to tool.

Presenter: John J. McGonagle, Jr., The Helicon Group
