‘Designing Spaces’ Teams up with KODAK Gallery for a Special “Miracle Makeover” this Month

The Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, a family-centered care facility, was recently filmed for O2 Media’s popular DIY television show “Designing Spaces” as they received a “Miracle Makeover” of their lounge and recreational areas.  The upgrades were made possible through the generous donations of companies like Eastman Kodak Company  who contributed cameras and KODAK Gallery services to produce wall décor for the teen room part of the lounge.  The makeover process will be revealed over the course of two weeks with both segments airing during June on Lifetime Television.

Ever since Joe DiMaggio himself cut the ribbon at the opening of the hospital in September of 1992, the entire staff has worked tirelessly to attend to the unique needs of children and their families.  To date, they have positively impacted the lives of thousands of kids and become one of the region’s leading pediatric facilities, offering a wide variety of healthcare services in a child-friendly atmosphere.  By updating the hospitals lounge areas Designing Spaces and their generous sponsors hope to put smiles on children’s faces every day for years to come.

“I think it is fantastic that KODAK Gallery has come on board with materials and support for this project,” says Lysa Liemer, Executive Vice President of Programming and Creator of Designing Spaces.  “For a child, hospitalization can be very scary, but with the help of companies like Eastman Kodak Company, we’re hoping to make Joe DiMaggio’s young patients feel more at home during their stay.”

KODAK Gallery’s portion of the project includes large color photos that will be used to decorate the walls of the lounge area.  Three children from Joe DiMaggio were given Kodak digital cameras and allowed to take their own photographs, which were then expanded to create fantastic wall décor with the help of KODAK Gallery software.  Other contributors include Performance Designed Products, who donated gaming equipment, and The Step2 Company, who provided toys for the playroom area.

“I think viewers will be very excited to see what these kids created with their digital cameras,” says Rahnel Romasanta, Senior Manager, Merchandising and Design for KODAK Gallery.  “We are so proud to be a part of this project and we hope that it will have a lasting impact on every child that comes here for care.”
