PRLog - Jun. 2, 2011 - Dreaming Dragon Publishing LLC is pleased to announce the release of "Golden Deer Sun and White Bear Moon" written by Jax Hix and illustrated by Matt Anderson.

A delightful and beautifully illustrated children's tale involving the wisdom of an ancient story telling of the early days of earth and the birth of the sun, moon and seasons.  Enjoyed by the child and the child within, Golden Deer Sun and White Bear Moon awakens the mystical qualities of the world around us, soon to become a family favorite!

This children's book will encourage even the most timid reader to engage in a love of art and storytelling.  "Golden Deer Sun and White Bear Moon" entices young readers with beautiful artwork and a tale told around the campfire in the voice of a Native American elder.  Portraying Native Americans in a universal and positive light, "Golden Deer Sun and White Bear Moon" is dedicated to living your dreams and embracing life.

Author proceeds of this book will be donated to Native American venues that support storytelling, artwork, writing and culture of the Native American people.

Jax was born as an unregistered Cherokee.  She was adopted by a non-Native family and was often disappointed that the media did not portray Native Americans in a positive light.  She struggled as a child to find positive Native American role models, stories and avenues to express this aspect of herself.   This book was given to Jax in a dream to share with the world just as it was given to her to tell.   Jax encourages all young people to seek out tales of the Native American nations in their local libraries, and help to support a beautiful and wonderful culture in the United States that is often overlooked and underappreciated.

Jax and Matt went to high school together in Washington State.  Both determined to live their dreams, Jax and Matt reconnected twenty years after graduation to complete this book.

About the Author:

In her former career, Jax Hix was a scientist and a science fiction fanatic who published short stories and poetry. Today she is obsessed with coffee and detests shoes. Jax Hix is still a science fiction fanatic and can be spotted at science fiction conventions. She is prone to random rambling and suffers from an unnatural obsession with bubble wrap and linoleum. She also loves to run with scissors and other sharp objects, but never in front of the kids. Jax can frequently be found in front of the computer or with her nose in a book--sometimes simultaneously.

Jax Hix has been writing, drawing, and performing music since early childhood. She was in the State Choir and has performed in several states at county fairs and coffee houses. Her art has been exhibited all over the United States and Europe (on hats and shirts).

She is at heart a geek and lives in the Pacific Northwest with her spouse, human and furry children and many, many plants. When she is not herding Scottie dogs and tending to her virtual forest of plants, she indulges in creativity and finds new and unique ways to crash software. The family loves to camp and play their century-old player piano. Jax hopes to someday grow up to be the weird cat lady on the block.

About the Illustrator:

Matt Anderson began his path as a freelance artist by drawing wildlife illustrations at the age of 7 in the small country town of Orofino, Idaho. After graduating from high school, Matt chose an intuitive path of learning and moved to Phoenix, Arizona to pursue his dream and use his talents within the entertainment industry.

In 2000, Matt had the honor to collaborate and create an art piece with American Artist Fritz
Scholder (1937-2005). The collaborated piece was published in Fritz's art book entitled "Thoughts at Night". Other honors include his participation in two of Phoenix's largest community art projects entitled "Guitar Mania I" and "Guitar Mania II", where he was sponsored by Fender Guitars, FOX 10, American Idol, Ryan Seacrest, Danica Patrick, and Green Day. Matt's work is seen in television, film, on album covers and hangs in the homes of celebrity figures.
