Follow on Google News | Reading with TLC Announces Lively Letters Uppercase BookNew product designed to assist pre-school children with reading skills
By: PR First The Lively Letters Uppercase Book features 26 uppercase characters with colorful cues to match the corresponding Lively Letters lowercase letters that, since their inception in 1990, have been recognized for generating dramatic improvements in reading scores. The highly interactive uppercase book also includes suggestions for teaching the letter names. Lively Letters, now celebrating its 20th anniversary, is a proprietary Reading with TLC program that turns abstract letters and sounds into “lively” characters by illustrating how readers should shape their mouths to make specific speech sounds; the powerful yet fun program provides picture cues to assist students in reading and spelling multi-syllable words. “We’re proud to announce our Lively Letters Uppercase Book; it is an engaging product that we are certain will help develop reading skills and we know it will please the many Pre-K and Kindergarten teachers who have been begging us for this product,” said Penny Castagnozzi, co-founder of Reading with TLC along with Nancy Alemian Telian. “Nancy did a fantastic job of capturing the personalities and styles of the lowercase letter characters when creating the uppercase versions.” Recognized as a building block of successful reading, the Reading with TLC program seeks to underscore findings by The National Institute of Child Health and Human Development indicating that prevention and early intervention with appropriate methods in grades K-3 decreases the number of special education referrals and that for 90 to 95% of poor readers, early intervention can increase skills to average levels. About Reading with TLC Reading with TLC offers research-based, clinically proven methods and materials, and provides professional development opportunities for those training phonemic awareness, phonics, and sight word acquisition. This unique program was developed with a team approach by sisters Nancy Alemian Telian a speech and language pathologist, and Penny Alemian Castagnozzi who has a background in elementary education. Comprised of Lively Letters and Sight Words You Can See, Reading with TLC is utilized in all three tiers of the Response to Intervention model of instruction. This creative program is used throughout the U.S., and globally, as an important part of, or supplement to, the core reading curriculum in grades Pre-K - 2. It is also used as an intervention program for students of all ages, including teenagers and adults. The explicit, multi-sensory approach is effective with all types of learners and addresses the needs of students with various learning challenges, including students with reading disabilities, speech and language disorders, and memory weaknesses. It is also successfully used with those learning English as a second language. The methods and materials consistently yield quick, dramatic gains in the critical skills for reading and spelling, while the fun factor makes it an enjoyable experience for students and teachers alike.
