June 1, 2011 - PRLog -- EASLEY, S.C.– Dagger is heading to Vail, Colorado this June as an official sponsor, and the “official kayak,” of the Teva Mountain Games and The Steep Creek Championship. The Games are one of the premier events in the country and Dagger is proud to sponsor the celebration of active living in mountain communities. In addition to four kayaking events, the overall sense of adventure and multi-sport passions at the Teva Mountain Games (TMG) perfectly fits the broader Dagger philosophy of outdoor adventure and play.

“We’re excited to support these Games on a bigger level,” said Cheri McKenzie, CMO of Confluence Watersports, parent company of Dagger. “The Teva Mountain Games show how sport, culture and fun are all central to our varied, yet cohesive, community. As a brand, we embrace the eclectic nature of the adventure lifestyle and kayaking’s unique place in this spectrum. We’re proud to be an official sponsor of the Games and the Vail Valley Foundation that works so hard to promote healthy lifestyles and community integrity.”

Dagger is supporting multisport enthusiasts by awarding Dagger Mamba Creekers to the first place finishers of the both men’s and women’s Ultimate Mountain Challenge.  The challenge will reveal the most versatile of athletes who will compete for a best combined time after completing a sequence of four races combining trail running, mountain biking, road biking, and kayaking or SUP’ing. Dagger wants to reward those demonstrating passion for a range of outdoor sports, one of the pillars on which the brand is built.

Dagger will also have an expo tent, manned by athletes and Dagger ambassadors, at “Gear Town” in Vail Village. Dagger boats, including the popular Axis, Mamba, and Nomad models, will be available to purchase. Stop by to meet the athletes, check out the boats and enter raffles for a boat giveaway and other prizes. One Dagger Nomad 8.5 will be raffled off on Saturday at 5 p.m.  In addition, six Dagger logo-wear prize packages will be raffled off throughout the weekend.  All proceeds will benefit the non-profit First Descents, a group improving young cancer survivors’ lives through outdoor activity.

TMG has four, planned kayaking events: Steep Creek Championship, Freestyle, 8-Ball Kayak Sprint and the Down River Sprint, which is a leg of the GNC Ultimate Mountain Challenge. Team Dagger athletes are slated to compete with the world’s best kayakers in the Steep Creek Championship on Homestake Creek and the Kayak Freestyle competition at Vail Whitewater Park.

The Teva Mountain Games will be held June 2-5, 2011, in Vail, Colorado.
