Recently officials met to discuss how the public could be sure that "state secrets" are classified in the interest of national security and not to cover up the misdeeds of government officials.

In a recent convention David Ferriero, Archivist of the United States, joined the National Constitution Center for "Transparency and Open Government: What Does this Mean for Citizens?" this past Tuesday, May 3, 2011.

Ferriero discussed how transparent the government should be, and what citizens have done to make the government more open with its information. Also discussed was whether or not access to these resources is a constitutional right. The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Bill Marimow facilitated the conversation.

Officials from Knight Investments LLC stated that the need for an open government was needed, specifically in the areas of commerce.

"We are at a very crucial time economically. We are a time where there is constant legislation reform being implemented to prevent past mistakes. We must however make sure that as new rules come out the private sector has the information available to adjust their plans of action and not hinder the entrepreneurial spirit that America is great for." said a senior spokesman for Knight Investments LLC.

Officials hoped that the recent press of these events would encourage private sector principals to search out public information that effect companies in America.
