Festival Rocks – work those accessories!

Here at Joe Browns we don’t think that fashion should be hard work,

June 1, 2011 - PRLog -- and although we know that everyone would love to update their entire wardrobe every single season, we also know that we festival fashionistas are only human and our (very stylish) purses aren’t having any of it.

But we don’t want to be wearing the same old thing every time Glastonbury rolls around, but how do we get festival chic without having to pack so many clothes our backs would break trying to lift our backpacks.

There’s a simple answer – we’ve got some great looks that are based around those little things that be fitted into a tiny little purse – the answer is accessorise, accessorise, accessorise.

For festivals we think this is a fantastic approach – you have less to pack and you can mix and match clothes and accessories to change your day-to-day look, or even update your look as the soundtrack changes.  And here’s the best part - updating your accessory kit is far cheaper than trying to update your entire wardrobe.

First of all – the essential Capsule Festival Wardrobe

We’re sure if you have a rummage you’ve got the basics (and if you haven’t, you know where to come…), let’s put these together – some well-worn denim shorts, a white vest tee, a simple tunic or even a pretty coloured maxi dress.  These are the basics that will keep you looking and feeling cool and with the help of some statement accessories, you can make the look your own.

So now you’ve got a white tee and teeny denim shorts? You’ve just got to grab a pair of statement wellies to help you stand out in a crowd – practical, pretty and kind to your feet too.

Now to dress it up…
Add more colour with your jewellery and don’t be afraid to mix it up a little by swapping other accessories, like belts around.
Team natural wooden beads with a few choice pieces of vintage style floral accessories – a bangle here, a pretty headscarf or funky hat there and don’t forget those festival staples – retro sunnies.

Change the look any way you want – grab some jewellery in this season’s favourite brights or add a cropped denim or leather jacket teamed with a few simple pieces of jewellery and messed up bedhead hair.

Essential accessories to festival chic

Spiral bangle – gorgeous globules of colour!
Funky hat – ideal for beaches and festivals   Multifunctional scarf (and it’s pretty too)   Update your look by changing your belts
Sunglasses – essential, even when the sun isn’t shining!

Jazz up a block coloured tunic with a funky straw trilby or cowboy style hat – perfect for protecting your face and neck from sunburn, but they look fab too.

Tie in your waist with a chunky belt or save the colour for your jewellery – mix and match bracelets with beads, charms and patterns and wear plenty of them. Wear with denim shorts for a hot day or team with colourful leggings and bangles for a brand new look.
Plain dresses are easy to make your own with the help of a few choice accessories. Add a boho twist with a summery trilby and a floral necklace, a simple bangle and team with summery sandals or rock it up for a festival with worker boots, lots of metallics and plenty of smudgey eyeliner.

Change the look by wearing with a funky scarf, a neutral, chunky belt in brown, black or tan and cute open-toed flats.

The key to using accessories to transform your outfit is to invest in a variety of jewellery, hats, scarves and footwear in a mix of colours and fabrics, that way you can mix ‘n match your look in a range of natural earthy tones, with flashes of vibrant colour and texture.

Keep it all safe and carry it to where you need to be, wrapped up in a new bag – we think that over the shoulder ones are perfect for festivals and let you dance around with ease – once you’ve emptied out the accessories of course!
