May 31, 2011 - PRLog -- SAN Jose, Calif., June 2, 2011 – Bring Me A Book (BMAB) will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Franklin McKinley School District’s Daniel Lairon Elementary School to celebrate the generous donation of $10,000 by ice skating champion and Bay Area resident Kristi Yamaguchi and her Always Dream Foundation to Bring Me A Book.

The ceremony will commemorate the donation of ten Bookcase Libraries to be installed in preschools and kindergartens throughout the Bay area, as well as highlight the new partnership developed between the two organizations to help build awareness  of the importance of reading to kids by holding read aloud events  in local underserved schools and communities.

During the ribbon cutting ceremony, two Bookcase Libraries will be presented to the Kindergarten student body of Daniel Lairon Elementary School, followed by a read aloud session with students and Kristi Yamaguchi.  Kristi will also give each of the 60 students in the two classrooms a copy of her recent children’s book, Dream Big, Little Pig!  Members of the media are encouraged to attend for event photographs and interviews.

“My Always Dream Foundation and I are proud to partner with Bring Me A Book,” said Kristi Yamaguchi. “Literacy is the foundation for a child’s success both academically and in life, and we all have a role to play in supporting and promoting early childhood literacy. I am thankful that we can play even a small role in promoting the love of books to our youngest readers.”

“Study after study proves that children who have early exposure to reading and books, and who are read aloud to on a daily basis, do better in school,” said Terri Clark, Executive Director, Bring Me A Book.  “The key is access to books.”  Bring Me A Book now serves over 500,000 children and parents at 1,800 sites throughout California, providing easy access to the best children’s books and inspiring parents, caregivers and teachers to read aloud to children for future success in school and life.
