May 31, 2011 - PRLog -- Nonprofit multicultural arts company, eyeBLINK, (www.eyeblink.org) is throwing parties of hope and smiles in 20 states during its weeklong project, A Slice of Hope. eyeBLINK donates pizzas to homeless shelters and provides live music during these parties, every day for a week.  Every penny is being raised by small, private donations.

Musicians provide live music while the pizza is served in the shelters.  A Slice of Hope's  objective is to feed not just the body but to also feed the spirit.

“In tough times, you need hope, ” said Obaid Kadwani, the creator of the project. "You need a moment wihen you can forget your cares.  So we do that.  We donate food, we provide music, people are happy and clapping and dancing.  When things look bleak, it's important to know that people are pulling for you."

“We buy discounted pizzas from Dominos.  For just $1 donation, a person sponsors 2 slices and live music for a shelter guest," said Qurrat Kadwani, eyeBLINK's Artistic Director.  "Beyond that, our donors become part of making a direct difference for a person in their community.  When you were having your darkest day, how important was it for you to be able to smile again?"

eyeBLINK  believes that music can transport you to a different time and a different place.  The live musicians create an essential ambiance for the pizza party.  The musicians range from drummers, to guitarists, to jazz musicians, to 5-piece bands to DJs.

The project, in its 5th year, has grown from just 1 city to 20 states.  A Slice of Hope was previously known as Pizza for the Hungry.

Obaid Kadwani is an Indian tv-personality known for hosting tv-shows about Bollywood, with a weekly viewership in America of a million South-Asian Americans.  His drive, passion and determination to pursue this volunteer project has been a key to its growth.

Many donors to A Slice of Hope also become hands-on party hosts.  Sunita Sukhraj is a mother of 2  who fundraises, hosts and arranges 2 parties in Orlando every year. " I try to set a good example for my girls and this is a great way to teach them to appreciate their blessings and show them the good in the people around them
