By: GAITS With cyber attacks and “cyber warfare” posing an ever increasing risk to national security, GAITS expects the Federal Government will adopt ISO 27000 certification as a requirement for contractors working on most IT related contracts. Much as ISO 9000 quality management certification has become a ubiquitous requirement within Federal procurements, GAITS staff believes ISO 27000 is applicable to a broad range of programs, not just those focused exclusively on Information Security. The ISO/IEC 27000-series of information security standards is published jointly by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). ISO 27000 provides best practices for information security management, risk management, and security controls within the context of an overall Information Security Management System (ISMS), GAITS was one of the first companies to attain ISO 27000 certification. GAITS provides information security support services to Federal customers including the Department of Defense, US Air Force, US Army, and the Department of Energy.
