May 27, 2011 - PRLog -- KERRVILLE, TEXAS (May 10, 2011) — James Avery, a family-owned jewelry retailer based in Kerrville, Texas, donated $15,000 to the Emerging Texas Artist Scholarship Program. This program, founded by the Texas Arts and Crafts Educational Foundation (TACEF), will help fund eight scholarships for students participating in an art program at a Texas college or university.

Currently in its tenth year, the Emerging Texas Artist Scholarship Program recognizes exceptional artists in thirteen categories of art who are currently enrolled in an art program at a Texas college or university. James Avery Craftsman has underwritten this $15,000 Scholarship Program for the past six years.  In 2010, the Emerging Texas Artist Scholarship Program fielded approximately 50 students from six Texas schools.

Penni Carr, Executive Director for TACEF, comments on the donation:  “The Texas Arts and Crafts Educational Foundation is so fortunate and grateful to be teaming up with James Avery Craftsman in this Scholarship Program. It is a perfect partnership; James Avery is the epitome of fine crafts. With their commitment to the arts and their generous contribution, eight college level art students will be able to pursue their passions."
