Free Memorial Weekend Concerts in Lake Arrowhead

The public is invited to free Memorial Day weekend concerts Friday, May 27, Saturday, May 28, Sunday, May 29 and Monday, May 30 in the Lake Arrowhead Village. Featured bands include Dead Man's Party, The English Beat, Ambrosia, and Naked Eyes.

May 27, 2011 - PRLog -- The Lake Arrowhead Village and the Village Merchants Association’s FREE Summer Concert Series continues this weekend with four concerts in as many days, featuring a talented tribute band and world-renowned original groups The English Beat, Ambrosia, and Naked Eyes.

“These fresh air concerts are a great way to officially welcome summer to Southern California,” says Director of Marketing for the Lake Arrowhead Village. “Come up for the day or the whole weekend.”

Dead Man’s Party—Friday, May 27 at 6:30 p.m.
If you’re a fan of Oingo Boingo, you won’t want to miss Dead Man’s Party, which has been thrilling audiences for more than a decade. Their 8-piece band and front man are so spot-on; you’ll think you’re listening to Danny Elfman and the original band.

The English Beat—Saturday, May 28 at 6:30 p.m.
Briefly known as General Public, the original band the Beat is back and on Center Stage Memorial Day weekend. Their irresistible blend of SKA, reggae and punk powers songs like “Tears of a Clown,” “Mirror in the Bathroom,” “Can’t Get Used to Losing You,” “Hands Off…She’s Mine,” and “Best Friend.” Before you know it, you’ll be tapping your toes to their infectious rhythm.

Ambrosia—Sunday, May 29 at 6:30 p.m.
In their impressive recording history, Ambrosia has garnered five Grammy nominations, five hit-singles and plays to sell-out crowds around the world. Originally from the South Bay in Los Angeles, their sound is so original and phenomenal that it inspired an entirely new style of music that shares the name of their band.

Naked Eyes—Monday, May 30 at 1 p.m.
Remember the hit song, “Always Something There to Remind You?” It was just one of many top ten hits made famous by Naked Eyes. Recording at the legendary Abbey Road Studies in England, the group’s hits have received massive US radio-airplay through the years. At their Memorial Day Concert in Lake Arrowhead, audiences will rock out to greats like “Promises, Promises,” and “When the Lights Go Out.”

Underwritten by the Lake Arrowhead Village and the Village Merchants Association, Burrtec Waste Industries, Inc., KOLA 99.9 FM, the Rim of the World Historical Society and Ontario Reign, the summer concert lineup will also feature popular solo artists such as Leif Garrett and Antonio Pontarelli and renowned groups like The English Beat, Venice, Spazmatics, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, the Jay Blues Band and Martha Davis & the Motels.
Talented tribute bands will a Journey tribute band called Lights, Eagles’ tribute Desperado; Pink Floyd tribute Which One’s Pink; and an Aerosmith Tribute band, Aeromyth.

Performing music from virtually every genre, the concerts will be held on Friday and Saturday nights at 6:30 p.m. as well as Sunday evenings and Monday afternoons during long holiday weekends.

While festival seating for the concerts is free, tables can be reserved for $100 (for a full table/which seats up to 10) or $50 (for a half table, which seats up to 4).
