Does Gadget Phobia Put Women At Risk?

May 27, 2011 - PRLog -- The good news is that overall only 1 in 4 admit to using their phone while driving, (27% for men and 20% for women) but of those 60% will make calls and 10% will send text messages.

Top Cashback, the UK’s biggest free cashback website asked members how they used their phones and more than 80% of men either used a hands-free system or had a built in car-kit for their phone. The figure was less for women with 1 in 3 admitting to using their phone hand-held and 11% sending texts whiles driving.

Most (96%) respondents to the survey agreed that using the phone hand-held while driving should be illegal and just over 20% thought it should be illegal even with a dedicated in-car phone system. A few die-hards (4.2%) thought that using a phone hand-held should be legal.

The internet poll asked drivers if they accepted incoming calls when in control of a car and 67% answered yes. The figure was higher among men (68%) than women (59%).
