May 26, 2011 - PRLog -- IRVINE, CALIF. - Award-winning KTGY Group, Inc., Architecture and Planning, is pleased to announce that KTGY’s Principal Ken Ryan has been invited to participate in the Orange County Chapter’s Building Industry Association (BIA) and Urban Infill Committee and Asset Opportunities Group's program, “Creating a Community within a Community: Neighborhood Spotlight: La Floresta Brea," on Thursday, June 2, 2011. The meeting will be held at the Irvine Ranch Water District's Duck Club meeting room located in the San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary, 3512 Michelson Drive and Riparian View in Irvine, CA 92612.

Registration and breakfast start at 7:30 a.m., the program runs from 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.  The moderator for the program is Michael McCann of Alliance Residential Company. The speakers are James A. Martinez, project manager with Chevron Land and Development; Eric Nicoll, development services director, with City of Brea; and KTGY's Ryan.

La Floresta is a multi-generational, mixed-use community that offers new housing opportunities, jobs and amenities on a prominent urban infill site in north Orange County. Approved in June 2010 and currently under construction, the project involves repositioning of a property that formerly housed the Unocal Oil Company’s research and development center for over 50 years.  Project design incorporates strong walkability and “sense of place” features with a mix of smaller, connected neighborhoods, avoiding a mass production feel and celebrating a more organic maturation of town evolution. A village core represents the heart of the community, with gateway public art, restaurants, retail, offices and residences.

The plan reflects extensive community outreach, incorporating stakeholder input and contextual considerations. La Floresta also includes a reconfigured 18-hole golf course, community center and workforce housing on the nearby Birch Hills Golf Course site. Upon build-out, La Floresta allows for up to 1,357 dwelling units, including 1,110 units on the 119 acre mixed-use site and 247 units on the 92 acre reconfigured golf course site.

Ryan is known for his leadership, strategic insight, creative thinking and communication skills. With over 25 years of experience, he has been responsible for a wide variety of complex, high-profile projects throughout the United States including Anaheim’s Honda Center, Desert Willow Resort, Lytle Creek Ranch, Chapman University, and the Agua Caliente Resort and Spa in Palm Springs. Ryan and his Studio are currently serving as the Design Advisor for Anaheim’s ARTIC (Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center) High Speed Rail Transportation District next to Angel Stadium, which received PCBC’s 2009 Gold Nugget Outstanding on the Boards Site Plan Grand Award.

Ryan has also served on numerous local, regional and as a public official including: two-term past Mayor of the City of Yorba Linda; past two-term Chairman of the Foothill/Eastern Transportation Corridor Toll Road Agency; past Board Member of the Orange County/Riverside County Major Investment Study (MIS) Corridor Agency; past Board Member of the Transportation Corridor System (TCS) Orange County Toll Road Agency. He has been selected numerous times in Builder & Developer's "Who's Who in Homebuilding," and was recognized as one of the "25 Most Influential People" by North Orange County Magazine.
