May 26, 2011 - PRLog -- Donating a complete, high-tech security system recently, Sonitrol of Fort Lauderdale has provided the Habitat Broward Re-Store with peace of mind and substantial ongoing savings.

The Re-Store, Habitat for Humanity of Broward’s discount retail home improvement outlet at 505 W. Broward Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale, is a busy showroom where shoppers find reusable and surplus building materials, furniture and appliances that have been donated and are available at a fraction of their original price.   Businesses and individuals provide the inventory, through tax-deductible donations of furniture and home items as well as business furnishings.

With Sonitrol’s donation, the Re-Store is now protected 24/7 by security cameras and a live audio alarm system.  In addition to installing, monitoring and servicing the security system at no charge, Sonitrol also monitors the store’s fire alarm system.

“This has been a wonderful ‘home improvement’ project for the Re-Store that is already yielding great savings,” said Nancy Daly, Habitat Broward board member and chair of the Re-Store.  “When we opened this location about five years ago, Sonitrol stepped forward to give us security cameras that have been very helpful.  Now, with a full state-of-the-art system in place, it‘s comforting for our staff, volunteers and donors to know that the Re-Store is protected during store hours and through the night,” she added.  In addition, the new system has already helped reduce and deter dumping of trash on the property, she said.

"Safeguarding the Re-Store gives our team an ongoing role in helping Habitat Broward build hope for families in need,” said John Ray, III, president of Sonitrol of Fort Lauderdale.

He noted that in case of a break-in at the Re-Store, the verified audio intrusion detection system will transmit live audio to Sonitrol’s central monitoring station, confirming that a crime is underway – which helps police respond faster and with the right resources.
